Fellowship 2023
Dr Nga Thi-Thuy Vu
Home Economy: Viet Nam

Host Institution: University of Wollongong
Project Title: Developing methods to solve the nonlinear optimal problem by using algorithms of reinforcement learning
Project Outline: This project aims to solve the nonlinear optimal problems for dynamic systems using algorithms of reinforcement learning. The theoretical analysis is investigated then the practical verification will be utilized.
-
System modelling and analysing: Build the mathematical model of the mobile robot and analyse the challenges of tracking control.
-
Propose algorithm: introduce a new controller for tracking control.
-
Verify: Checking the correctness of the scheme via simulation and experimentation
-

Reasons for applying for fellowship: The opportunity for me to exchange with a high-ranking university and to work with experts in the field of control systems. This not only enhances my knowledge of innovation technology, hardware skills, and research experience, but also opens the chance for me and my students to continue to collaborate with Prof. Haiping Du and his group. I believe that by joining international research, I will receive valuable comments from the experts that will help me develop my research in the future.
Past Achievements:

-
Throughout my doctoral studies, I had the opportunity to deeply study control systems and apply theoretical research to electrical motors and power converters. This period of intensive study yielded notable achievements, including: 8 papers in reputable journals, participating in two national projects;
-
After returning to Vietnam, I expanded the application of control theory to other subjects like overhead cranes, wheel mobile robots, and wind energy generation systems;
-
Until now, I have published 29 international papers and 13 domestic papers on these topics;
-
I am also the leader of four research projects.
